Phosphate rock is generally used in the production of phosphoric acid and soluble phosphorus fertilizers. However, after grinding the phosphate rock, which is classified as “highly reactive”, it can be applied directly to the soil. When phosphate rock is added to the soil, it dissolves slowly to release nutrients slowly, but in some soils the dissolution rate can be too slow to support healthy plant growth. While it is recommended for acidic reaction soils with low pH; It is not recommended for calcareous soils with alkaline reaction, that is, with high pH, as its efficiency decreases. The dissolution of phosphate rock increases with the high phosphorus fixing capacity of the soil (such as high clay content).
